SPORTS:James Rodriguez wants Manchester United move after falling out with Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane

Real Madrid star James Rodriguez has issued a ‘Come and get me’ plea to Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, writes John Richardson.

The Bernabeu forward, who has fallen out with manager Zinedine Zidane, sees Old Trafford as his preferred destination as he prepares to leave Spain.

Colombia international Rodriguez would
love to make the move during the current transfer window, and his agent Jorge Mendes is already in talks with Old Trafford executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are also admirers of the 25-year-old, but the player is known to prefer a move to Old Trafford.

Rodriguez has not been a regular starter under boss Zidane.

Former United boss Louis van Gaal made overtures to sign him during his Old Trafford reign, but so far his successor Mourinho hasn’t appeared as keen.

That could change if he is able to offload midfield trio Morgan Schneiderlin, Marouane Fellaini and Memphis Depay.

The ball is in Mourinho’s court, with Mendes keeping his Portuguese countryman aware of any developments over fellow client Rodriguez

Rodriguez was given a rare start in the midweek Copa del Rey tie against Sevilla, and after scoring twice in a 3-0 win stated: “Real Madrid is the club I dreamed about.”

But the truth is it’s been a nightmare for him under Zidane and he now wants Mourinho and United to end it.
